Teachers’ Perceptions of Extracurricular Activities in the First Three Grades in Irbid Governorate, Jordan

This study aimed to identify the status of extracurricular activities among teachers of the first three grades in Irbid Governorate, Jordan, from their perspectives. The study employed a descriptive survey design, and a questionnaire was used to collect data. The questionnaire was administered to a sample of 230 male and female teachers of the first three grades in Irbid Governorate. The results showed that teachers’ perceptions of the overall status of extracurricular activities were moderate. The findings also revealed no statistically significant differences attributable to gender. However, statistically significant differences were found according to academic qualification, in favor of teachers holding a bachelor’s degree, and according to years of experience, in favor of teachers with less than ten years of experience. The study recommended giving greater attention to different types of extracurricular activities in basic-stage schools by incorporating them into the school timetable.
