Family Resource Management and Quality of Life: A Contemporary Home Science Approach
Abstract Family Resource Management is an important area of Home Science concerned with the planned use of human and material resources to achieve household goals. Contemporary families manage limited income, time, energy, skills, space and physical assets while facing changing consumption patterns and increasing demands on daily life. This conceptual research paper examines family resource management from the perspective of planning, decision-making, budgeting, time management, energy conservation, household work organization and responsible consumption. A practical framework is proposed to help Home Science learners understand how resources can be identified, allocated, used efficiently and evaluated. The paper also suggests educational activities and assessment indicators suitable for classroom and community extension programmes. The study is conceptual and does not claim original survey statistics.
