Transosseous Double‐Row Triceps Repair in a Professional Athlete
Abstract Distal triceps rupture is a relatively rare pathology among muscle‐tendon injuries and upper extremity trauma. The most common mechanisms include a fall onto an outstretched arm or direct trauma to the extended elbow, both of which can lead to disruption of the distal triceps tendon. The available literature on treatment outcomes remains limited; however, recent reports suggest that surgical management offers superior results compared with conservative approaches. Among surgical techniques, both suture anchors and transosseous suturing are established options. In this report, we describe the use of a transosseous double‐row repair technique performed in the lateral decubitus position for the treatment of distal triceps rupture in a professional athlete. This technique incorporates the benefits of a self‐reinforcing construct while increasing compressive loads at the bone‐tendon interface as the tendon is loaded.
