Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Changing Patterns of Human Social Interaction
Abstract The rapid integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into daily life is fundamentally reshaping the landscape of human social interaction and communication patterns. AI-powered tools, from sophisticated chatbots and virtual assistants to complex social media algorithms, are increasingly mediating, augmenting, and, in some cases, replacing human-to-human communication. This paper explores the transformative impact of AI on how people connect, express emotions, and form relationships. We examine the dual nature of this shift, highlighting the benefits of enhanced efficiency, accessibility, and personalization, while also scrutinizing the profound risks, including the potential for social isolation, the erosion of authentic connection, the creation of algorithmic echo chambers, and ethical challenges such as bias and lack of transparency. Ultimately, the paper argues that navigating the future of social interaction requires a critical balance between embracing AI's capabilities and prioritizing the core human values of empathy, connection, and ethical accountability.
