Securing Audios Using Novel One‐Dimensional Chaotic Map and Novel Diffusion Method

ABSTRACT With the escalating reliance on digital audio communication and multimedia applications, securing audio data against unauthorized access and tampering has become a critical concern. Although common encryption schemes like AES and RSA have great theoretical security properties, their direct implementation on large scale and real time multimedia data especially audio can pose some challenges in terms of computational load, time delays, and signal specific constraints. To address these limitations, this paper proposes a novel 1D chaotic map, utilizing which a new audio encryption scheme is designed. The chaotic map introduces high sensitivity to initial conditions and pseudo‐randomness, making it an ideal candidate for secure encryption. The proposed encryption scheme consists of three phases, namely, parameter generation, permutation, and diffusion that leverage the chaotic sequences to effectively permute and diffuse the audio signal. The novel diffusion phase exploits the chaotic map to encrypt each sample using multiple operations, which are based on the chaotic sequence, making this step dynamic in nature. The performance of the scheme was evaluated by encrypting and decrypting multiple audio files, followed by a comprehensive analysis including waveform, spectrogram, correlation, NSCR, UACI, PSNR, MSE, entropy, and BCR. The simulation results validate the effectiveness of the proposed encryption method in ensuring strong security for audio data. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme introduces significant changes in the encrypted audio, ensuring a high level of security, while the decrypted audio retains its original quality, validating the effectiveness and robustness of the scheme.
