Zeolite-based catalyst design for hydroisomerization: Recent Advances and Prospects
Converting straight-chain hydrocarbon compounds into branched ones through hydroisomerization is a promising way to improve fuel quality and lower the freezing point of the compounds. However, a high-performance catalyst is required to ensure the process runs optimally and stably. Zeolites have unique characteristics that have been widely applied in catalysis. In the last decade, research on hydrocarbon hydroisomerization using zeolite catalysts has continued to grow due to their effective results. In addition, several methods of modifying zeolite design to improve its performance have been described. The research focus in this review article addresses the hydroisomerization of n -alkanes to iso -alkanes applied to n -heptane and n -hexadecane. This review article highlights the progress and development of zeolite-based catalyst design in hydrocarbon hydroisomerization to support future research.
