Cybersecurity Governance in Executive Education: Bridging the Technomanagerial Gap in Data Privacy, AI Ethics, and Corporate Risk Management
Abstract The exponential proliferation of artificial intelligence systems, combined with increasingly stringent global data privacy regulations and sophisticated, persistent cyber threats, has fundamentally transformed cybersecurity from a localized information technology compliance issue into an enterprise-wide strategic risk. Despite this paradigm shift, a persistent techno-managerial gap continues to characterize executive leadership and corporate boardrooms across global industries. Many corporate directors and senior executives possess limited technical literacy, treating cybersecurity and artificial intelligence governance as technical delegation matters rather than core fiduciary responsibilities. Conversely, Chief Information Security Officers, data protection officers, and technical teams frequently struggle to articulate complex cyber risk in the financial, legal, and operational language required for effective board-level decision-making. This paper investigates the critical role of executive education in bridging this communication divide, proposing a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary governance framework tailored specifically for senior leaders and corporate boards.
