State of the National School Health Data Set: Every Student Counts!, 2025
Every Student Counts! (ESC!), the National Association of School Nurses' National School Health Data Set, provides a structure for collecting and sharing school health data to demonstrate the value of school nursing and better understand student health needs. This article summarizes ESC! data submitted for the 2024 to 2025 school year by 37 states, representing 17,215,819 students and 35% of the U.S. student population, with findings focused on workforce, chronic health conditions, chronic absenteeism, and health office visits. Results highlight both the continued value of standardized school health data and the variation in state capacity to submit complete data across ESC! data points.
