MALIGNANT TRANSFORMATION IN MATURE CYSTIC TERATOMA OF THE OVARY: A CASE REPORT OF SQUAMOUS CELL CARCINOMA IN POSTMENOPAUSAL PATIENT
Ovarian tumors account for about %6 of female malignancies. %20 of ovarian tumors are germ cell ovarian malignancies and the commonest type of germ cell tumors of ovary is teratoma.1 Teratomas have subtypes like mature, immature and specialized tissue. Of all the germ cell tumors only mature cystic teratoma (MCT) is benign. However, MCT can under go malign transformation in less than %2 of cases. Malign transformation seen especially in postmenopausal patients.
