El Archivo de la Biblioteca de la E.T.S.A. (UPM): Notas sobre la historia de su compromiso con la docencia y el patrimonio
This article presents significant moments in the history of the Architecture Archive of the Library of the School of Architecture at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) and its commitment to teaching and architectural heritage: its beginnings as an educational museum that, from very early on, sought to reach beyond the university; the transition from “museum” to “archive”, as the value of the series and the documentary context came to be recognised; and the incorporation of information technologies. Today the fonds are openly available on the Archivo Histórico Digital de la Biblioteca de la UPM platform (AHDB), with more than 16,000 digital objects that users can download without registering or belonging to the university. The commitment remains the same but, thanks to the new tools, visibility is greater.
