Hybrid Project Management Readiness in Romanian Construction Companies: An Exploratory Survey from a Small Construction-Company Context
Construction companies need both planning/control and flexibility, but practical readiness for hybrid project management is still unclear. This study analyzes readiness for hybrid project management adoption in a small Romanian construction-company context using two questionnaire datasets: a hybrid project management questionnaire with 26 valid responses and an Agile questionnaire with 31 valid responses. The analysis used descriptive statistics, simple categorical tests, binary coding for multiple-response items, and thematic interpretation of open-ended answers. The results show that readiness is mainly partial. Overall, 57.7% of respondents did not know the concept of hybrid project management, while 72.0% evaluated organizational readiness as partial and 70.8% evaluated team readiness as partial. The main barrier was lack of knowledge about Agile or hybrid methodologies (84.0%), and the strongest support need was training and certifications (84.6%). The Agile questionnaire showed strong contextual conditions, such as openness to change, client feedback integration, and collaborative culture, but formal Agile implementation experience was low (33.3%). The study suggests that adoption should start gradually, through awareness, training, simple procedures, pilot projects, and better communication between teams.
