Becoming an AI-First Company: Six Aspects of Organizational Redesign
AI is no longer just a tool that companies use to manage change; it is increasingly becoming a force that determines what changes, how quickly those changes occur, and who—or what—implements them. As foundation models increasingly become the standard and give way to autonomous agents and- over time- embodied robots, the question is no longer whether to adopt AI, but whether an organization is positioned to continously adapt to it. This article presents six aspects that organizations may need to rethink: how change itself is managed once systems help generate it; how strategic constraints are shifting from execution capacity to data, models, computing power, and energy; how the org chart accounts for human, digital, and physical contributors; where differentiation comes from once models are commodities; what leadership competencies this requires; and how agents are managed across their working life. We close with what should deliberately stay human.
