What We Amplify — Artificial Intelligence, Orientation, and the Discipline of Responsibility
What We Amplify examines artificial intelligence as an extension and amplification of human cognitive and operational agency. It distinguishes capacity from orientation, technical alignment from syntropic alignment, and delegated agency from delegated responsibility. The essay develops the concepts of corrigibility, interval of corrigibility, recursive reflection, and contemplation as disciplines for keeping amplified action answerable to reality. It also considers how AI can release human time and expand the field of possible action while increasing the need for judgment, responsibility, and institutional forms capable of interruption, feedback, and revision.
