RE-CONCEPTUALIZING BIOMEDICAL INQUIRY: HARMONIZING CLASSICAL AYURVEDIC EPISTEMOLOGY, DIALECTICS, AND HERMENEUTICS IN MODERN RESEARCH

Contemporary biomedical investigations predominantly rely on reductionist frameworks, frequently encountering limitations when navigating the multifactorial, highly individualized clinical dynamics observed in medical practice. This paper investigates the systematic integration of foundational Ayurvedic epistemological principles with current scientific research architectures. By mapping Pratyaksha (empirical observation), Anumana (logical inference), and Yukti (experimental and rational synthesis) onto modern statistical analytics, investigators can establish a sound methodological grounding for evidence-based traditional medicine. Additionally, the academic and clinical application of Acharya Charaka’s forty-four dialectical categories (Vada) provides an advanced framework for negotiating complex modern bioethical challenges. The tripartite Trisutra construct—encompassing Hetu (etiological factors), Linga (clinical manifestations), and Aushadha (therapeutic modalities)—serves as a robust structural blueprint for designing systematic reviews and clinical trials. Concurrently, Tantra-yukti (textual hermeneutical tools) functions as a qualitative protocol to ensure accurate interpretation of classical Sanskrit source material. Together, these traditional paradigms merge historical empirical insights with modern scientific methodology to generate a comprehensive model for contemporary clinical investigation.

Abstract

Contemporary biomedical investigations predominantly rely on reductionist frameworks, frequently encountering limitations when navigating the multifactorial, highly individualized clinical dynamics observed in medical practice. This paper investigates the systematic integration of foundational Ayurvedic epistemological principles with current scientific research architectures. By mapping Pratyaksha (empirical observation), Anumana (logical inference), and Yukti (experimental and rational synthesis) onto modern statistical analytics, investigators can establish a sound methodological grounding for evidence-based traditional medicine. Additionally, the academic and clinical application of Acharya Charaka’s forty-four dialectical categories (Vada) provides an advanced framework for negotiating complex modern bioethical challenges. The tripartite Trisutra construct—encompassing Hetu (etiological factors), Linga (clinical manifestations), and Aushadha (therapeutic modalities)—serves as a robust structural blueprint for designing systematic reviews and clinical trials. Concurrently, Tantra-yukti (textual hermeneutical tools) functions as a qualitative protocol to ensure accurate interpretation of classical Sanskrit source material. Together, these traditional paradigms merge historical empirical insights with modern scientific methodology to generate a comprehensive model for contemporary clinical investigation.
