Cultural geography I: Relationality’s ‘scenes of concern’
Reflecting on twenty-five years of the relational turn, this report explores how cultural geography has been shaped by its longstanding engagement with theories that emphasise becoming, liveliness and relationality. Specifically, it focuses on four ‘scenes of concern’ that stem from the subfield’s assimilation of process-oriented ontologies: (1) an attention to liveliness, (2) decentring the human, (3) tracing assemblages and (4) the call to creativity. In this manner, the report sets the stage for future reports that will explore work questioning relationality and/or its founding presumptions.
