Sulphur as a Homeopathic Intervention for Hydatid Cyst in Liver: A Case Report
Abstract Hydatid cyst caused by infestation of Echinococcus granulosus (dog tapeworm) is a zoonotic disease. It is characterized by the formation of cystic tumors in vital organs such as the liver, lung, brain, and bones, and it may remain as an asymptomatic lump or present with clinical symptoms resulting from pressure effects and hypersensitivity reactions to the cyst. Under modern medicine, surgery is still the gold standard procedure, but it does not offer any protection against reccurrence. Constitutional homeopathic medicines haven proven to be effective against such cases without the need for surgical procedures and reduce the chance of reccurrence by improving the patient's immunity. In this study, we present the case of a 61-year-old woman suffering from a hydatid cyst in the liver, measuring 8.17 cm × 7.39 cm, with clinical features of a tumor in the right hypochondrium, abdominal pain, fat food intolerance, and constipation. She experienced relief after being treated with Sulphur as her constitutional medicine in 50 millesimal potency.
