Delayed Complications of Ocular Trauma: A Rare Case of Ciliary Body Lesion with Visual Impairment

Abstract Ocular trauma can lead to delayed complications, including vision-threatening conditions that manifest years later. We report a rare case of a 40-year-old woman presenting with progressive visual loss in the right eye, two decades after blunt trauma from a cricket ball. Clinical examination revealed anterior synechia, pigment deposition, and a partially absorbed lens with membranous opacity. B-scan ultrasonography showed a hypoechoic lesion with vascularity suggestive of a ciliary body melanoma. High-resolution Doppler imaging confirmed the presence of the lesion without any retro-orbital pathology. Intraocular lens (IOL) power was calculated using the SRK-T formula. The patient underwent an excisional biopsy with histopathological analysis, which confirmed a ciliary body melanoma. Cataract surgery with IOL implantation was performed to address the associated lens pathology. This case highlights the importance of long-term follow-up after ocular trauma and the role of imaging in evaluating post-traumatic intraocular lesions.
