Structured Seeing: A Unified Theory of Tension, Action, and Relief
Structured Seeing: A Unified Theory of Tension, Action, and Relief introduces θεωρέω (theoreo) as the foundational operator of conscious experience. Drawing on the original Ancient Greek meaning—to see with structured understanding and implication—the paper argues that all meaningful experience arises from the system’s act of interpreting the present and extending that interpretation forward into a future constraint. This extension generates load, the structural tension of unresolved meaning, which persists until it collapses through fulfillment, contradiction, or replacement. The familiar cycle of tension, action, and relief is reframed as the temporal unfolding of a single operator rather than a collection of psychological states. By formalizing the grammar of theoreo and demonstrating its applicability across psychology, music, decision‑making, social interaction, and phenomenology, the paper offers a unified ontology of experience: conscious systems generate futures, bear them, and resolve them.
