Bulova: A Novel Encryption Approach for Digital Identity Images

The rapid development of digital image data exchange over the Internet has increased concerns about image breaches and security risks. To address these concerns, it is essential to transmit and receive image data using a fast and robust encryption technique. In this regard, this article proposes a novel encryption technique called Bulova for securing image data. The proposed Bulova encryption technique employs a strong mechanism by constructing a secure encryption framework. This robust framework is achieved by separating the digital image into its individual channels and generating a defensible encryption key for each channel through bitwise operations. The performance of the proposed Bulova encryption technique is evaluated through extensive experiments conducted on a dataset consisting of 640 digital identity images with synthetic persons’ photographs, as well as through comparisons with commonly used encryption techniques. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed Bulova encryption technique consistently outperforms state-of-the-art encryption techniques across various evaluation criteria.
