REVIEW OF NANOEMULSIONS
Nanoemulsions are submicron sized emulsions which act as drug carriers for improving the delivery of therapeutic agents. They are the most advanced nanoparticle systems for the systemic delivery of active pharmaceuticals for controlled or sustained drug delivery and targeting. These are thermodynamically stable isotropic systems in which two immiscible liquids (water and oil) are mixed to form a single phase by means of appropriate surfactants. Nano emulsion globule size falls typically in the range of 10-100 nm and shows a narrow size distribution. Nano emulsions show great promise for the future of cosmetics, diagnostics, drug therapies, and biotechnologies.
