Design Considerations Enabling Organizational Alignment
Organizational design built around an organization's vision, mission, and strategy provides the blueprint for tactically aligning structure, processes, roles and responsibilities, and systems with its corporate goals. This includes developing a hierarchy or network structure for configuring how work is done. How—and who—makes decisions is critical to success, and the process by which people are managed and held responsible for achieving corporate and business unit objectives logically follows. Organizational design creates the superstructure of an organization and ensures that the right people, processes, and systems are in place to deliver value. Managing and adapting to change and market conditions with a deliberately lean and nimble structure will help ensure long‐term success toward achievement of its goals. As organizations embed artificial intelligence (AI) into day‐to‐day operations, they must restructure and adapt so AI becomes part of the corporate ethos—not an add‐on.
