Sr 2 [CN 2 ][NH] – A Carbodiimide Imide

The novel mixed anionic compound Sr 2 [CN 2 ][NH] crystallizes as colorless transparent platelets in the orthorhombic space group Pnma . It contains carbodiimide anions alongside imide anions and shares structural similarities with the respective binary compounds strontium carbodiimide, α – and β –Sr[CN 2 ], and strontium imide, β –Sr[NH]. Raman spectroscopy clearly confirms the presence of carbodiimide and imide ions as corroborated by simulations based on DFT‐derived phonons.

Abstract

The novel mixed anionic compound Sr 2 [CN 2 ][NH] crystallizes as colorless transparent platelets in the orthorhombic space group Pnma . It contains carbodiimide anions alongside imide anions and shares structural similarities with the respective binary compounds strontium carbodiimide, α – and β –Sr[CN 2 ], and strontium imide, β –Sr[NH]. Raman spectroscopy clearly confirms the presence of carbodiimide and imide ions as corroborated by simulations based on DFT‐derived phonons.
