Simulation of Capsule Processing in a Conceptual Hyperloop Station
Background: Hyperloop technology has emerged as a promising high-speed and energy-efficient transport concept capable of transforming future mobility systems. While existing research has primarily focused on system feasibility and corridor-scale modelling, limited attention has been paid to capsule dynamics in station environments, despite the significant impact of operational constraints and safety requirements on overall system performance. Methods: This study investigates the use of simulation to analyse hyperloop station configurations and their throughput capacity. The study combines different modelling approaches to analyse capsule movement within the station and assess station throughput capacity. Results: The results show how access arrangements, processing-point availability, and station dimensions affect throughput. In particular, parallel access to processing points provides higher throughput than sequential access when all other station parameters are identical. Conclusions: The developed models can be adapted to specific station layouts and access routes, and may form the analytical core of a future Simulation-as-a-Service framework for hyperloop station design and operational analysis.
