The role of digitalization in transforming training practices and employee learning perceptions: case study of an Algerian mobile network operator

Purpose This study aims to understand the role of digitalization in transforming human resources (HR) training practices and employee learning perceptions. Design/methodology/approach As part of a qualitative study, we conducted 32 semi-structured interviews, which were transcribed and analyzed thematically using a manual approach. Findings The results reveal that digitalization reshapes training practices through strategic objectives while influencing learner experiences and engagement. However, its implementation is shaped by learner motivations, obstacles and organizational challenges. Research limitations/implications This study focuses only on the telecommunications industry and is limited to the Algerian context. Future research should adapt it to different sectors and countries. Originality/value By combining HR and employee perceptions in the under-researched Algerian telecommunications sector, this study offers an original empirical contribution and extends the application of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology framework to digitalized training practices and workplace learning.
