60. Forage and Grazing Strategies to Enhance Efficiency and Sustainability in Canadian Livestock Systems.
Abstract As increasing land-use pressure drives the conversion of perennial grasslands to annual cropping systems, there is a growing need for innovative forage and grazing strategies to sustain beef cattle production in western Canada. This presentation will explore practical approaches to building more resilient forage systems, including the integration of annual forages into crop rotations, evaluation of alternative forage species, and adoption of improved grazing management practices to enhance productivity, resilience, and sustainability.
