Locations and Binding Domains
Abstract This paper argues that some noncomplementary instances of anaphors and pronouns in the context of spatial prepositions conceal different structures underlying fixed spatial relations (places) and dynamic ones (paths). I propose that place prepositions form opaque binding domains due to the necessary mediation of a functional head pwhich sets out a clause-like structure, while paths are transparent to binding unless they contain an overt place preposition.
