Entrepreneurial Superheroes: An Experiential Exercise to Build Self-Belief and Entrepreneurial Mindset

This article presents Entrepreneurial Superheroes, a narrative-based classroom exercise designed to strengthen students’ self-belief, self-awareness, and entrepreneurial mindset through playful experiential learning. In this activity, undergraduate management students become “superheroes” who work in teams to address real-world startup challenges, identify personal strengths, and develop creative solutions in a safe, imaginative setting. Building on prior work that uses superhero metaphors to support self-efficacy, the exercise extends that approach by combining role-play, team-based entrepreneurial problem-solving, and structured reflection. The activity is explicitly grounded in entrepreneurial self-efficacy, entrepreneurial identity, and growth-oriented learning. Implemented in in-person undergraduate management courses, the exercise has generated strong student engagement and meaningful reflection on confidence, teamwork, and entrepreneurial thinking. The article offers instructors an adaptable pedagogical tool for helping students explore entrepreneurial identity and practice entrepreneurial problem-solving in an engaging, memorable format.
