Palaeozoic Base Maps

In memory of Robin Cocks, we present our most recent compilation of Palaeozoic maps, which are also made digitally available. The maps are influenced by Robin's lifelong interest in drafting reliable palaeogeographic maps of exposed land and shallow shelves (where his beloved brachiopods thrived), further enriched with information about the distribution of other faunas and climatically sensitive lithologies. We compare our latest maps with coeval reconstructions from other palaeogeographic models and highlight important differences, with implications for our understanding of Palaeozoic biogeography and climatic dynamics.
