EVALUATION OF ALTERNATIVES FOR ROAD FREIGHT VEHICLE IN THE LOGISTICS SECTOR THROUGH MULTI-CRITERIA DECISION MAKING METHODS

The appropriate selection of road freight vehicles is a critical decision problem of strategic importance for increasing operational efficiency and reducing costs. In this study, after determining the criteria for the road freight vehicle selection problem, five different vehicle alternatives are evaluated based on these criteria. The MEREC and ENTROPY methods, which are Multi-Criteria Decision Making Methods, are used to weight the criteria. Both methods reveal that the warranty period and service network criteria are weighted higher than other criteria. This result demonstrates that after-sales service and manufacturer warranty are among the primary determinants of vehicle selection for logistics companies. After determining the criteria weights, the WASPAS method is used to rank the vehicles of the five companies. According to the ranking obtained from the analysis, A1 ranked first, followed by A4, A3, A5, and A2. Obtaining similar results with different Multi-Criteria Decision Making methods strengthens the reliability and consistency of the evaluation. The findings provide guidance for decision-makers in the logistics sector in both vehicle procurement processes and fleet renewal policies.

Both methods reveal that the warranty period and service network criteria are weighted higher than other criteria. Obtaining similar results with different Multi-Criteria Decision Making methods strengthens the reliability and consistency of the evaluation. The findings provide guidance for decision-makers in the logistics sector in both vehicle procurement processes and fleet renewal policies.
