Financial Competence in the RFL Classroom: Biographies of Russian Writers of the 19th Century and Banking Advertising Based on Classics as an Integrative Learning Resource
This study examines the linguistic features of economic discourse using descriptions of the financial activities of famous Russian writers and VTB TV commercials such as “VTB is a classic.” The phenomenon of financial communication among Russian writers and the linguistic features of modern bank advertising are of interest not only from the point of view of describing various discourses and their interaction, but also from the point of view of teaching Russian to foreign audiences whose future professional activities are related to economics, finance, or banking. Knowledge and understanding of economic relations in the field of finance by foreigners through understanding the biographical facts of famous people is methodologically appropriate and corresponds to the modern methodological paradigm, and turning to thematic videos is a modern means of visualizing educational topics that are difficult in terms of content and language.
