Communities of practice in chemistry: An overview of current communities’ origins, leadership, actions, and challenges

This presentation from BCCE 2026 provides a description of fifteen chemistry communities of practice in the United States. While the communities represent a range of chemistry subdisciplines, they share many goals and activities, such as sharing adaptable teaching resources and providing professional development opportunities for chemistry instructors. They also share challenges such as funding and limited time for leadership and participation. By working together, the communities are able to share strategies that enable them to grow and thrive.
