[Poster] Results from the DiCE confirmatory pilots in three European cities - testing return systems and motivational strategies for digital health devices.

This poster presents the design and main findings of the confirmatory pilots conducted within the DiCE – Digital Health in the Circular Economy project in Geel (Belgium), Maribor (Slovenia) and Valladolid (Spain). The behavioural field tests examined how people return used electronic pillboxes when offered two return channels—postal return or a collection point—and four different packaging conditions. The poster summarises the study design, involving three living labs, 413 participants and 25 collection points, and explains the use of a cover story in which participants believed they were testing three pillboxes in order to reduce socially desirable behaviour. DIt presents the actual use of the two return channels and the return rates observed in Spain, Belgium and Slovenia, distinguishing between natural returns, returns following researcher intervention and total collection. The poster also compares return behaviour across four motivational packaging conditions and highlights differences in relative return rates between countries. It concludes with three practical implications for the design of future return systems.
