An analytical overview of linguistic features in Banglish

This article offers a qualitative analysis of linguistic contact between Bangla and English and examines how lexical, morphological, syntactic, phonological, and sociolinguistic features are expressed in Banglish. The study is based on a comparative analysis of published studies and secondary scholarship, rather than new participant data. Based on theories of code-switching, borrowing, hybridization, and the Matrix Language Frame model, it explores how English elements are integrated into Bangla grammar and how bilingual speakers use mixed linguistic resources. The study indicates that Banglish is a dynamic consequence of sustained language contact, and its forms are shaped not only by structural linguistic factors but also by vocabulary use, educational environment, social background, and the extent of language contact. Since this study is conceptual and literature-based, findings about phonological and social variation are interpretive, and further empirical work with recordings, interviews, and sociolinguistic sampling is needed to systematically investigate these patterns.
