The Adaptation of the Cycle of Violence Model to Organizational Context: A Theoretical Study on Battered Woman Syndrome

This study adapts Walker's Cycle of Violence model to the workplace to examine how women experience workplace violence and how these experiences may contribute to the development of Battered Woman Syndrome (BWS). Using a conceptual approach supported by an extensive literature review, the study argues that workplace violence is a repetitive and systemic process reinforced by organizational culture rather than an isolated event. Repeated workplace violence may contribute to the emergence of BWS among women employees. The study extends the application of BWS beyond domestic settings and contributes to the organizational behavior literature by offering a workplace-based theoretical perspective.
