The power and potential of blue philanthropy
Abstract Blue philanthropy has quadrupled in the past 15 years, growing to over USD 2.2 billion annually. We spotlight areas in which it has resulted in significant impacts and is poised to generate more. Introducing a five-part research agenda, we describe the power, pitfalls and potential of blue philanthropy, and how scientists can contribute to shaping an increasingly impactful future for marine science and ocean conservation in concert with blue philanthropy.
