RAM Analysis of 1-out-of-2: G Repairable System Under Load Sharing Effect Using Markov Approach

Abstract In this paper, we have conducted the reliability-availability-maintainability (RAM) analysis of a 1-out-of-2: G repairable system using the Markovian approach. The system consists of two non-identical units and remains functional until both units fail. When a unit fails, the entire load of the system shifts to the remaining working unit, which puts additional strain on that unit and may affect its probability of failure. It is assumed that the failure and repair rates of the units are constant over time and are thus represented by an exponential distribution. We have formulated the Chapman–Kolmogorov differential equations from the Markov model of the system and, by solving these equations, obtained various reliability measures including system reliability, MTSF, availability, MTTR and maintainability. We have also conducted a profit analysis of the system. Additionally, a sensitivity analysis is carried out to examine the impact of failure and repair rates on the system performance.

We have also conducted a profit analysis of the system. Additionally, a sensitivity analysis is carried out to examine the impact of failure and repair rates on the system performance.
