Beyond the Grant: Questions for Sustaining HSI Servingness

Beyond the Grant invites Hispanic-Serving Institution teams to examine what should endure when temporary funding ends. Written from a practitioner perspective, the guide connects servingness, community cultural wealth, and praxis with questions about budgets, student participation, institutional memory, and the care extended to people who carry grant-funded work. The guide includes a continuity inquiry, transition questions, a living-record outline, and a 90-minute facilitated conversation. It asks teams to read evidence alongside lived experience, name who has authority to act, and return decisions to the students and workers affected by them. This is a practitioner reflection and discussion resource, not a formal program evaluation or a validated assessment instrument.
