Key Market Trends in the Development of the Sharing Economy in Russia

The paper examines the evolution of the sharing economy in Russia through the carsharing market. The study aims to identify growth drivers, institutional constraints and key efficiency indicators of the leading operator. The methodology combines a literature review on collaborative consumption, statistical analysis of the Russian carsharing market for 2022–2024, content analysis of the regulatory environment and a company case study based on public disclosures. Results indicate that carsharing has become the core segment of shared mobility: market value rose from 33 billion RUB in 2022 to 63 billion RUB in 2024, while consolidation and safety requirements intensified. Delimobil demonstrates rapid expansion of its user base and fleet, but faces high leverage and volatile net profit. Efficiency can be improved via in-house maintenance infrastructure, lifecycle optimization of vehicles, regional scaling, and stronger risk management and compliance practices. The findings are relevant for operators, regulators.
