Beyond Adoption: How AI Literacy, Organizational Readiness and Calibrated Trust Shape GenAI-Supported Strategic Decision Quality

This conceptual article develops the AI-Supported Strategic Decision-Making (AI-SDM) Capability Framework, which explains when generative AI (GenAI) improves strategic decisions in organizations. The framework positions AI literacy and organizational readiness as enabling conditions and effective GenAI use as the central mechanism. It treats calibrated trust and human-AI complementarity as boundary conditions and strategic decision quality as the outcome. The article argues that access to GenAI does not by itself create better decisions; value emerges when human capability, organizational readiness and appropriately calibrated trust are aligned. It advances six propositions, a testable research model and a research agenda. No new empirical data are reported.
