A reader-response approach to the parable of the rich man and Lazarus (Luke 16:19–31): applying the SIFT method

The reader-response approach to biblical hermeneutics recognises that interpretation is rooted in the context of the reader as well as in the context of the writer. The SIFT approach maintains that the context of the reader is shaped by the Jungian cognitive preferences of Sensing (S), Intuition (I), Feeling (F) and Thinking (T). Applying this approach, the present study compares the close reading of a Lucan parable through the lenses of two contrasting types, one ISFP and one INTJ.
