FUNCTIONAL-PRAGMATIC FEATURES OF PRAGMATIC MARKERS IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK DIPLOMATIC TEXTS

This thesis examines the functional-pragmatic features of pragmatic markers in English and Uzbek diplomatic texts from a comparative perspective. Diplomatic texts represent an important form of institutional communication used to express political positions, promote international cooperation and regulate diplomatic interaction. Pragmatic markers in such texts perform various functions, including establishing discourse coherence, strengthening argumentation, mitigating disagreement, highlighting significant information and maintaining diplomatic caution. The study employs comparative-descriptive, pragmatic, discourse and contextual analysis methods. The analysis demonstrates the active use of markers such as however, therefore, furthermore, in this regard, at the same time and we believe in English diplomatic texts, while Uzbek diplomatic texts employ corresponding expressions such as biroq, shuningdek, shu bilan birga, shu munosabat bilan, ayni paytda and deb hisoblaymiz. The findings indicate that the major communicative functions of pragmatic markers are generally shared by English and Uzbek diplomatic discourse, whereas their pragmatic realization differs according to national and stylistic conventions.
