Innovation and Intellectual Property: Aspects of Protecting the Results of Innovative Activities

This article examines the relationship between the innovative activity of enterprises and the creation and active patenting of intellectual property. An analysis of the patent activity of enterprises across the country, individual industries, and regions most actively engaged in innovation and the protection of their intellectual property is provided. The predominant types of patent applications are identified. Concepts directly related to a company's effective patenting and its innovative development (patent portfolio, patent pool, patent analytics, patent landscape, strategic and cross-licensing, etc.) are characterized. Special attention is given to the problematic issues of patenting and potential risks. The relevance of protected intellectual activity for the innovative development of enterprises and the country as a whole is substantiated. The main areas of work on establishing intellectual property as a component of the Russian innovation system are characterized.
