MODAL AND HARMONIC ANALYSIS OF VIBRATION ISOLATOR MOUNTING USING FEM
Abstract Vibrational forces have a considerable impact on marine systems and structures, which are frequently accompanied by mechanical noise. Mechanical devices isolate marine vessels from onboard mechanical forces and shock loads. In this paper a dome shaped vibration isolator which exhibits quasi zero stiffness behaviour is used to isolate the vibrations from the machines onboard. A modal analysis and harmonic analysis are performed by varying the geometric parameters of the model. The results shows that a dome shaped vibration isolator can be used to isolate different frequencies and also geometric parameter influences the isolation frequency and amplitude.
