Queering Basic Needs Work
ABSTRACT Rooted in practice, this article explores how gender and sexuality centers, queer and trans (QT) resource practitioners, and basic needs units and programs can “queer” basic needs work to better serve and support low‐income 2SLGBTQIA+ college students. Three practitioners from the University of Michigan Spectrum Center share their approach to meeting the basic needs of QT students and how practitioners must endeavor to meet the similar, pronounced, and unique needs of this population of students.
