The genome sequence of Carline Thistle, Carlina vulgaris L., 1753 (Asterales: Asteraceae)
We present a genome assembly of Carlina vulgaris (Carline Thistle; Streptophyta; Magnoliopsida; Asterales; Asteraceae). The assembly consists of two haplotypes with total lengths of 3,741.35 megabases and 3,695.98 megabases. Most of haplotype 1 (98.7%) is scaffolded into 10 chromosomal pseudomolecules. Haplotype 2 was assembled to scaffold level. The mitochondrial genome has been assembled, with a length of 326.94 kilobases. Gene annotation of this assembly by Ensembl identified 26,885 protein-coding genes. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces reference genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland.
