"A Geospatial Assessment of Tourism Potential and Developmental Strategies in Nandurbar District, Maharashtra"
Abstract The research paper deals with the geographical, cultural, and religious potential tourist destinations of Nandurbar District in Maharashtra state. India is a developing country, and Maharashtra has a rich cultural and natural heritage. Nandurbar District is part of the Khandesh region, featuring some of the most geographically, culturally, and religiously rich heritage sites in Maharashtra. Administratively, Nandurbar district is divided into six tehsils: Akkalkuwa, Dhadgaon, Taloda, Shahada, Nandurbar, and Navapur. This paper highlights the region's vast potential driven by its unique location in the Satpuda Ranges, featuring sites like Toranmal hill station, dense forests, and religious spots. The development of Nandurbar district depends on the availability of natural, cultural, and geographical tourism potential features as well as available tourism development facilities. The researcher discusses how the tourism development strategy for the Nandurbar district relies on seven key indicators and strategies for the growth of tourism development in the district, including infrastructure development, improved road connectivity, eco-friendly accommodation, promotion, marketing, and the branding of eco-tourism and pilgrimage to boost economic growth and attract national and international tourists.
