Economic Resilience in AI-Driven FinTech, ESG Integration, and Sustainable Financial Systems: A Human-Centered Approach

This paper quantitatively examines employees’ perceptions of the relationships among AI-driven Financial Technology (FinTech), Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) integration, Human-Centered Factors, and Economic Resilience in banks and FinTech firms in Jordan. Rather than using objective organizational or macroeconomic indicators, the study measures respondents’ perceptions of AI-driven financial technologies, ESG-oriented practices, human-centered considerations, and their organizations’ ability to withstand, adapt to, and recover from economic and financial disruptions. An integrated framework combining technological, sustainability, and human-centered dimensions was developed to examine these relationships. Data from 353 usable questionnaires were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results demonstrated significant positive associations between AI-driven FinTech and both ESG Integration and Economic Resilience. ESG Integration significantly mediated the association between AI-driven FinTech and Economic Resilience, while Human-Centered Factors were positively associated with AI-driven FinTech and significantly moderated the association between AI-driven FinTech and Economic Resilience. The model explained 65% of the variance in Economic Resilience (R2 = 0.65). The findings contribute to the digital finance literature by integrating technological, sustainability, and human-centered dimensions while emphasizing the organizational and perceptual context of the evidence. Given the cross-sectional nature of the study and the perceptual measures used, the findings should be interpreted as associations within the participating organizations rather than as evidence of causal effects or national economic or financial-system resilience.
