Supporting the Research Lifecycle: RDM Training and Services at the Ruđer Bošković Institute

Following the 2022 Croatian Science Foundation mandate requiring Data Management Plans (DMPs), the Centre for Scientific Information at the Ruđer Bošković Institute initiated a Research Data Management (RDM) training programme. Initial activities centred on educational seminars introducing DMP requirements and templates for the national funder. Training activities continued in the following years and expanded beyond DMP preparation. In 2025, the Open Science Winter School was organised as part of the PATTERN project. It covered Open Access, FAIR RDM, Science Communication, as well as useful tools and examples of good practice. Now in its second year, the Winter School again offered two thematic tracks combining theory with practical group work where participants could apply their knowledge to realistic RDM scenarios. In parallel with its educational role, the Centre provides support throughout the research lifecycle. This includes reviewing DMPs at the grant proposal stage and curating data records and DMPs prior to publication in the institutional repository. Furthermore, training activities in 2026 were extended to include practical instruction on depositing data in the institutional repository. This poster presents the development of RDM education and support activities at the Institute and highlights practical approaches to building RDM knowledge and skills.
