Duplication Of The Inferior Vena Cava: A Rare Congenital Anomaly Associated With Venous Thromboembolism

Inferior vena cava (IVC) abnormalities are generally asymptomatic and are often identified incidentally on cross-sectional imaging studies. Duplication of the IVC represents an uncommon congenital venous variation that can pose challenges in radiological interpretation, differential diagnosis, and planning of endovascular procedures, especially among patients presenting with venous thromboembolism (VTE). Furthermore, when thrombosis occurs in an unusual distribution or extends beyond expected venous territories, further evaluation may be warranted to identify potential acquired or inherited predisposing factors.
