TAC grades show wide variation in state psychiatric treatment laws

Where a person experiencing a serious psychiatric crisis lives can play a significant role in when and how treatment becomes available, according to a new 50‐state analysis of psychiatric treatment laws from the Treatment Advocacy Center (TAC). The organization found considerable variation in the legal standards governing emergency evaluation, inpatient commitment and assisted outpatient treatment (AOT).
